Learn More About Kara

Kara grew up in Maine before heading to Connecticut to attend Quinnipiac University, where she earned her BA in Psychology in 2005. She then pursued her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Arizona State University, graduating in 2007.

Her early career focused on working with teens and adults in the criminal justice system who were dealing with problematic sexual behaviors. In 2016, she moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. Here, she gained extensive experience in psychiatric hospitals, private practice, and a specialty court for women with a history of substance abuse and sex trafficking.

In 2021, Kara received her clinical license (LCSW) and began working full-time in private practice.

She is married with one daughter, and they currently live in Dallas, Texas.

My Approach

I specialize in working with young adults, adults, and seniors who are struggling with their current phase of life, including but not limited to job change, school, or relationship distress. I’m also experienced working within the legal system and with issues surrounding addictive behaviors.

I use an individualized approach to help clients identify strengths, learn new ways of coping, improve communication, and resolve conflict effectively. I create a plan with my clients to not only implement but maintain change.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I consider myself to be direct, kind, and empathetic. I use humor in practice to make the experience enjoyable, especially when talking about topics that can be uncomfortable to share with a stranger. I focus on the therapeutic alliance by building rapport and creating an environment in which you feel safe and comfortable to share.
